Dad and Dugga had a great day today... If you ask Dad, they hung out at the house, did yard work and went and got their hair cut. If you ask David, they went to the beach and saw sharks and dolphins - I'm not calling David a liar, but the grass is shorter, and so is both of their hair...
While Dad was doing yard work, he also re-arranged the patio furniture, moving our table & chairs to the other end of the patio. David either didn't register this, or just doesn't care, because tonight he came up from the grass, hit the cement and started running... I got as far as yelling "David watch...." before I could get the rest of the sentence out, he slammed his head into the edge of the table and went flying backwards landing on his back.... Scared the crap out of me!... I REALLY hope he didn't crack his skull. The knot is getting larger and larger despite the icepack, which my son who is now a pro at owie control not only asked for immediately, but is able to hold it on there by himself, as he is quite used to head injuries at this point. I'm worried for two reasons: 1) a cracked skull would be a horrible thing for a 2 year old, just ask my friend who's son cracked his skull at 1, and 2) we don't currently have insurance, as daddy's new job just started this month and the insurance doesn't take affect until the first of September..... this child is going to be the death of me!

Thursday August 19th

After big sis' first day of kindergarten, we went to papa's house to swim...
I don't think I've laughed this hard in a long time.... That is a deflated basketball on his head, swim floaties on his arms, and he is using a water splash bat (upside down) to hit around a blowup soccerball.
He was so proud of his "hat" and wouldn't take it off until we went inside.... The imagination this kid has blows me away...There was no "david don't!" today - I let him be as crazy as he could be.

Thursday August 12th

It's been a few weeks since I had the time to log on and talk about David - don't worry, he's fine. No serious accidents or anymore emergency trips, just been really busy with work and birthdays and a new puppy - but David hasn't been any less crazy.
The last weekend of July we went to Santa Cruz, for Dugga's first beach visit. He LOVED it, running after birds, jumping in the water, throwing sand EVERYWHERE and all around having a blast. On our first evening, we let him run crazy in his clothes and get as wet and sandy as he wanted, because it was getting late and we were just going back to the room anyway. When we finally did get back and get him undressed I learned a new mommy lesson... jean shorts + sand + ocean + walking + cold = LOTS of chaffing. The poor boy was raw on this little legs for about a week.
We got through the trip with lots of fun and minimal damage (chaffing for the boy and a 2ND degree sun burn for me) and came home to our normal routine.
We've only had a few noteworthy incidents in the last week, Dugga finding a bottle of lotion and taking it in the playroom jumping on it to see how far he can get the lotion to squirt out, which was SUPER far, and awesome for me because I was at work and Dad had to clean that mess..
And then tonight.... The house was nice and clean, everything picked up, dishes done and put away, the puppy went outside for the first time and actually peed instead of going on the floor in the house. Chris and I step outside and are enjoying the evening air while the kids watch TV in the playroom....Or so we thought. We come back in to find Dugga sitting at the counter, covered in dish soap. And I don't mean he had a lot on him, I mean the boy emptied the ENTIRE 14 oz bottle that we had just filled onto the counter, himself, the chair and the floor. After a spanking and a very sudsy bath, he is in bed and we are getting the relaxing we were looking for earlier. The good news is, it wasn't nearly as hard to clean up as I thought. I wiped up the big puddles of soap with dry paper towels, then mopped and used a wet one on the counter and chair, and it came up pretty easily with no soapy residue. Turns out Dish soap makes good floor cleaner.
