What a year!

Wow it's been almost a year since I had time to sit and write about the Dugster... not that he's been any less crazy, I just haven't been able to stop and document everything... Right now he is sporting quite the face thanks to his cousin Dewey (you should see the other guy..) But just wanted to let everyone know he's still alive... For now.. Only one hospital trip this year, and we were able to walk out without stitches! Yeah!!!

Monday January 10th - The game closet

This morning as I was walking out the door to go to work, the Dugga came stumbling out of his room wiping the sleep from his eyes saying something incomprehensible like "they ate my ball" or something close to that. I asked him who ate his ball, and he said "No, they ate my BALL".. Apparently the sleepies hadn't quite left him, and I'm not good at speaking monkey first thing in the morning, so I said to him, "go tell daddy baby." I should have known better, and as I was driving to work, I was concerned, but I figured he would at least wake up his sister like he usually does, and she would wake dad up.... WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!!
Dugga went into the dining room and got the step stool that we keep (above his head) on the table, took it into the hallway, opened the linen closet door, piled the sheets on the ground, put the stool on top of the sheets, and then pulled all of the board games out. He also apparently found the bottle of glue, which I'm pretty sure was on the top shelf, so either he climbed all the way to the top, or his sister helped him get it down... And spread glue EVERYWHERE. There is a puddle in the hallway, drip marks leading into his sisters room, large puddles on her floor, on her table, and on her chair. Did they stop there? No, of course not! He used one of her chairs to open her dresser drawer, climbed up the drawers like a ladder, stood on the dresser and pulled her piggy bank off her shelf on the wall. He then covered the piggy bank in glue, took it into his room and put it upside down (glue side down) on his bed, covering his sheets in glue.
He climbed up his dresser in similar fashion to Emily's and pulled HIS piggy bank down, emptying all the money out, and then covering it in glue too. Little Miss Emily swears she had nothing to do with all of this, but she had glue on her hands too, so although we aren't able to lay the blame fully on David, everybody knows who the mastermind is behind this scheme.
THEN - he must have decided he was hungry, so into the kitchen he went... What's his favorite snack? You guessed it.. Coffee Creamer. He climbed up the counter opened the cupboard, pulled down the creamer, poured it into a bowl on the counter, put the lid back on, and put the creamer back in the cupboard. (Now, I know he's smart, and I know he's coordinated, but this has Emily written all over it, as she tries to cover up her sneakiness, and David doesn't care if we find his mess...obviously) And what goes best with coffee creamer? Coffee of course. He also took down a small package of flavored coffee grounds that we got for christmas and dumped those all over the counter. And remember, this is all from the time I left for work to the time Dad got up, which was maybe an hour.
When I came home for lunch, to a completely stressed out husband, David was sitting at the counter eating his lunch, sweet as he could be. I asked him if he made a big mess in the house and he scrunches his nose up and says "no......but Emmy did" I said "really, it wasn't you?" and he says "no, it was emmy.... And Xena" (our puppy who I had taken to the vet just this morning to be fixed, so there was no possible way it was her). I almost believed him until he threw the dog in there.... Then I realized he was just blaming it on anyone who wasn't there to defend themselves. If only he would use his genius for good instead of evil.....

Holiday Break

The Holidays have been loaded with presents, loaded with laughs, and loaded with small disasters. Dugga and his sister are just about at their wits end, with cabin fever due to the poor weather conditions. So... how does David get his energy out? On Christmas, it was by destroying his sisters room and spreading Styrofoam everywhere that not only took forever to pick up, but also clogged my vacuum cleaner. On New Years Eve, we went to a dance party. Dugga got his groove on for 3 hours straight. I thought he would drop into a coma from sheer exhaustion, but noooooo. He danced until almost 11 and then screamed at me for taking him home. He was up bright and early the next day ready to dance more. That boy definitely is a little portagee dancing machine. Soon after, while I was making dinner, he decided he wanted to read a book. Apparently he couldn't decide which book to read... Probably because they were MY books, not theirs, and maybe the fact that none of them have pictures had something to do with his indecision. So he dumped my entire bookshelf out into a giant pile in the hallway. Awesome, right?

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned before how he likes to eat coffee creamer. We thought we outsmarted him by not keeping it on the counter anymore. I've given up all forms of having a nice kitchen with cute accessories. The creamer is kept in the tub it comes in in the cupboard over the coffee pot. Well, he knows that, and thanks to his aunt Nonie he has a great new desk that he can push around the house and use to climb on stuff. This morning he got into the cupboard, pulled out the costco sized coffee creamer tub, dumped it all over himself, all over the counter, into the cute little bowls I USED to use for creamer and sugar, and all into the cubbies on the desk from Aunt Nonie. It looked like he was out in a snow storm. Thank goodness Christmas break is over, things can go back to normal. He can go to daycare and terrorize someone else for a few hours a day.
